ARIZONA STATE SWEEPS #6 MINOT STATE TO REMAIN #1
UNION LAKE, MI – Arizona State University, the defending ACHA Men's Division 1 National Champions, received 36 first-places votes to come in as the top ranked team in the 2014-2015 ACHA Men's Division 1 Ranking #3. The Sun Devils went on the road and swept #6 Minot State (3-1, 4-2). #2 Robert Morris University Illinois received the other first-place vote and earned a pair of road wins on the east coast over #11 Delaware (5-3) and former #12 Navy (5-0). Oklahoma moved up a spot to #3 after sweeping former #5 Iowa State in Oklahoma City (3-2 OT-SO, 3-2). The Sooners took 3 of the 4 games against the Cyclones this season. #4 Stony Brook suffered its first loss of the season, splitting a home series against #12 Rhode Island, losing 5-1 on Friday and winning 3-0 on Saturday. Rounding out the top 5 is Central Oklahoma, which swept a pair of home games against Missouri State before shutting out Iowa State on Sunday 1-0.
Other notable Top 25 scores from last weekend: #8 Liberty and #17 Arizona split a pair of games in Lynchburg, VA. The Flames pounded the Wildcats on Friday 8-0 before Arizona rallied from a 3-goal 3rd period deficit to defeat Liberty in a shootout 6-5 on Saturday. #9 Ohio suffered its first loss of the season against #25 West Virginia, which reappears in the polls after a one week hiatus, losing 1-0 in Morgantown, WV on Saturday after pounding the Mountaineers 8-1 on Friday in Athens, OH. #16 Davenport scored a pair of impressive road wins over former #24 John Carroll (6-3, 7-0), while Western Michigan and Michigan-Dearborn split a pair of games in Dearborn, MI. Western got the shootout win on Friday 6-5, while the Wolverines scored a 6-2 win on Saturday. Meanwhile, #24 Lebanon Valley jumped into the polls after sweeping former #22 Rutgers (3-2, 4-3), Colorado State split a pair of road games with #13 Illinois (0-7, 2-1), Eastern Michigan split a home-and-home with former #14 Oakland (3-6, 6-4), and Rochester College split a home series with former #21 Mercyhurst (3-4, 4-3 OT-SO)
This week’s big gainers were #12 Rhode Island, #20 Michigan-Dearborn, and #22 Western Michigan, which each moved up a three spots in the rankings, while #5 Central Oklahoma and #24 Lebanon Valley each moved up a pair of spots.
The Central States Collegiate Hockey League and the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League lead the way with 5 ranked teams each, while the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League and the Western Collegiate Hockey League each had 4 ranked teams in the Top 25.
Over the past twelve seasons, 10 different schools have won the ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championship: Illinois (2), Lindenwood (2), Arizona State, Davenport, Delaware, Minot State, Oakland, Ohio, Penn State, and Rhode Island.
Beginning its 24th season of action, there have been a total of 12 schools that have won the ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championship:

- Ohio (4 times)
- Illinois (2 times)
- Lindenwood (2 times)
- North Dakota State (2 times)
- Arizona State
- Davenport
- Delaware
- Iowa State
- Minot State
- Oakland
- Rhode Island
54 teams will compete in Men’s Division 1 this season, including two new teams: Midland University, located in Fremont, NE, and the Indiana Institute of Technology, located in Fort Wayne, IN. Indiana University, North Dakota State, the University of Scranton, Washington and Jefferson College, and Wayne State University have dropped out of Men’s Division 1.
The computer ranking, which will not commence until late October, will for the second time determine the 20 teams that qualify for the 2015 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships, which will include the following seven autobids:

- (ECHA) Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association
- (ESCHL) Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League
- (GLCHL) Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League
- (NECHL) Northeast Collegiate Hockey League

- (HOST) JOHN CARROLL
The fourth ranking of the regular season will be released on Friday, October 17, 2014.
The 2015 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships will be hosted March 5-10 by John Carroll University and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission at the OBM Arena in Strongsville, OH. This will be the fourth year of the 20-team format.
