Mercyhurst wins two at home over the weekend
On Friday night, Mercyhurst overcame a 5 minute major during overtime to steal a victory over Pitt by a score of 3-2. Michal Smid (Czech Republic) had the lone shoot-out goal. With that win, Mercyhurst improves to 3-2-0 in CHMA league play.
On Saturday night, the Lakers had to rally from behind late in the game to defeat the Canisius College Griffins. Mercyhurst was down a goal late in the game, when Bo Zinner tipped in a Kaleb Schwab point shot to tie it at 3-3 with a little over 3 minutes remaining. Mercyhurst kept pressing and found the back of the net at the 1:21 mark off a shot from Joe Tadiello. Adam Goss turned away 27 shots for his first collegiate win.
The win helps Mercyhurst to improve to 9-6-2 on the season. Next up for the Lakers are division rivals from Slippery Rock University. Game time is set for 9:50pm this Saturday November 15th at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
